Rest Day

We weren't as tired from our off road adventure as we thought we'd be but needed the day off to clean all the dust off of the bikes. Lottie was making some nasty squeaking noises as we rode into Te Anau last night.

We went in to town for breakfast at the Sandfly Cafe (I'm happy to say it was not aptly named!) and overdosed on coffee before buying a wierd slection of food and bike cleaning essentials from Supervalue Supermarket. We used our super hostel back garden as a bike cleaning base and had funin the sun with some white spirits and new brake blocks. I nipped out to get speare inner tubes and batteries for our head torches and at the end of the afternoon we had squeak free, sparkly bikes with spare parts and bright lights fitted in all the right places ready for tomorrows Homer Tunnel.

The ride to Milford tomorrow is 120km with a nice climb at the end. Hence, we set the alarms to get us up nice and early so that would enjoy the ride and not race the sunset.
