07/04/08 - Queenstown

Rest Day (thank goodness).

After another great night's sleep (we're liking this hostelry lark) we embarked on what is unofficially the longest breakfast undertaking in the known universe. We chatted to some nice Kiwis that had lived in Balham (amongst other places) and knew the "Fish Bar" behind the Sainsburys well.

My knee was seriously giving me gyp still. Seems like there's a proper problem there. Luckily cycling is all ok, but some thought was required for the forthcoming walks we've been planning.

We felt like we needed to get organised so spent the day doing some serious planning (my favourite on a rest day!) We contacted Tim and Piers to see if they were coming to meet us; moved our Kepler Track booking to give my knee a chance of recovering; didn't buy lots of waterproofs; booked vans and ferries for our eventual move to Jersey. We indulged ourselves a little with super ice cream at Patagonia Chocolates... Mmmmh...

We had an awesome evening playing on the Queenstown Luge! This was way better than I remembered and we had great fun racing down both the tracks. We even bought the pictures they were so funny. We particularly like Claire's first run! She looks like she's enjoying a very sedate ride! We even saw a tentative Japanese girl completely crash and wind up facing the wrong way!

We finished the evening enjoying a bottle of wine, some wedges and a cheese board. What a great recovery day!
