16/02/08 - Queen Charlotte Track - Day 2

Hike: 25.5km, 475m

The rain stopped some time in the night so the we could breakfast and pack away in the dry. We set off late as we tried to leave the tent drying for as long as possible but the dry weather was still humid and grey so it didn't dry very much.

Today's walk involved more uphill and therefore had better views. We had lunch at a campsite with a cooking shelter and great views over Queen Charlotte Sound with a few other trampers and some wekas. I was worried they might peck my toes as they were getting very close to my airing feet at times!

After lunch the humidity dropped and we trekked on with more fine views to our campsite at sea level, Cowshed Bay. The camp caretakers had a small dog obsession and insisted we hold the dogs! Our friend David was here too. We had a dry dinner with him and he introduced us to cheap imitation Tim Tams which could prove to save us a fortune!
